Belgrade in the XIX century

Princess Ljubica’s residence was built in 1831. It has been preserved to the present day as the most representative example of the town architecture of its period. It shows all the characteristics of oriental building techniques so-called Serbian Balkan style.

The Cathedral was built in 1840, planned by Franc Janke, with the help from the state and from Prince Milos Obrenovic. Its design was directly influence by classicism style.

Terazije is the most famous square in Belgrade. It started to take sharp as an urban feature in the first half of of the 19th century.
